Internship Madrid: a vibrant city!

If you are from Europe and you want to do an internship or study in another European country, you can apply for an Erasmus + grant. The amount of the grants is adjusted to the country you are going to. The grants are provided through universities and colleges. Compensation for a Madrid internship is not obvious, but some companies do offer it. The internship compensation varies per company and industry in which the student will be active. This compensation varies between €200,- to €650,- per month.

The costs of living in Madrid are different for every person. The advantage is that if you are from another European country than Spain you are entitled to an Erasmus + grant if you do your internship in Madrid. The answer is no. However, you do have an advantage if you control the basic knowledge of the Spanish language. If you are going to do an internship in Spain, it is not always necessary to apply for a NIE-number. There are two situations where you will need to apply for a NIE, namely: when you receive an internship fee from a Spanish company or when you stay longer than three months consecutively in Spain. However, this is legally required but not always respected. When you have applied for a NIE-number it is valid forever, so if you have plans to stay in Spain after your internship, you do not have to apply for the NIE again.
